Hi, long time no see. Gary here, We have been extremely busy on our trip. So busy, we have not had time to go through all our pictures, to keep up our journals and the blog.
Since our stay in Oregon, at the Sea Perch RV Park, we have made our way to the Candlestick RV Park in San Francisco (that’s where the 49ers play football, I am told), Napa Valley, Yosemite National Park, Monterey, Carmel and are now at Norman Vineyards in Paso Robles wine country.
We, somehow, got to drive the RV up Lombard St. in downtown San Francisco. We managed to break the back wheel on my bicycle, as it hit the street....I think 31 ft RVs should not be trying to climb (or descend) the streets of San Francisco. In a nutshell, we: rode on a cable car, walked on the Golden Gate bridge, saw Chinatown and little Italy (and ate at both),De Young Art center, the ugliest building in San Francisco (the FBI building), OJ’s high school , Fisherman's Wharf , a Japanese dragon parade, and Pier 39.
We had to stop in Gilroy, CA, to have the back brakes changed. The drive to and from Yosemite, was just incredible. Hills that lasted 90 minutes to climb and descend wore the brakes right off. We then toured Monterey and Carmel.
Today we drove along the coast, we were a little surprised to find fog instead of sun and to learn that fog is quite normal at this time of the year. Fortunately it burned off and we were able to take the RV right on to the beach. We were all a little anxious but there were so many others already on the beach, so we decided to set our nerves aside and off we went. We drove about half a mile down the beach, parked, walked for a bit, made lunch and watched the tide come to within about twenty feet of the RV. Amazing!!!!
Hey guys - good to hear from you. We thought you
ReplyDeletehad fallen into a sink hole or fell off some
mountain cliff since we hadn't seen any blogs but it
sounds like you really have been busy. Continue to enjoy the ride and keep us posted with a picture or email every now and then.
